The Mar Thoma Suvisesha Sevika Sangham is the women’s organisation of the Mar Thoma Church. It was founded in 1919 under the leadership of Abraham Mar Thoma Suffragan Metropolitan, to give women over 18 an active part in the evangelistic and charitable ministries of the Church.

Built on the selfless work of its early leaders, the Sangham has grown steadily and today supports orphanages, schools and hostels, and works to empower women and children in need.

At Carmel, our aim is simple: to help women grow in faith and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to serve God and His people together. Our members take an active part in the spiritual, charitable, social and parish life of the church.

Monthly meetings – The third week of every month is set apart for Sevika Sangham meetings, led by the Vicar. This year our Bible study has focused on the Women of the Bible, giving members time to reflect, learn and grow together.

Chain prayer – One Friday each month, as part of the zonal Sevika Sangham, members each give 30 minutes to prayer for those who are sick, distressed or in need, and for families and friends at home and abroad.

Sunday hospitality – Members organise tea and snacks after the Holy Communion service every Sunday, coordinated through our prayer groups.

Charity – Each year we support a charity project. In 2025–26 we gave £663.33 towards the final-year tuition fees of a nursing student at Hoskote Mission and Medical Centre.
