Who We Are
The Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church — the Malankara Mar Thoma Suriyani Sabha, as it is known in Malayalam — is one of the oldest groups of practising Christians in the world. Tradition holds that the Apostle St. Thomas landed at Muziris on India’s south-west coast in AD 52 and laid the foundations of Christianity in that part of the world.
Today the Church’s headquarters is at SCS Campus, Thiruvalla, Kerala, India, with over a million adherents worshipping across the globe. Carmel Mar Thoma Church, Liverpool is part of that worldwide family — a small parish with deep roots, serving the Mar Thoma community across Merseyside since 2003, and worshipping every Sunday at 10am at our own church on Cockshead Road, Liverpool L25 2RB.
